I was at the gym talking about eating healthy with an older man. He was in top shape, so I was curious about how he did it. He told me to eat beets. I told him I add beetroot powder to my shakes to help with hydration post workout. He said for me to eat the whole beet and not just the powder. He said that it would help with my sexual performance too. Is this true? – GYM GUY
Will beets help with your performance? I don’t know – you can better answer if your performance improved after increasing your intake of beets. However, what I can tell you is that beets contribute to improved blood circulation. Healthy blood circulation is important to the body. Oxygen and nutrients are delivered throughout the entire body to the organs via the blood. Beets contain nitrates and the body converts nitrates to nitric oxide.[1] Nitric oxide aids blood flow and blood pressure. Improved blood flow and blood pressure can enhance one’s endurance. Consuming beets can lead to better circulation which allows for proper function and/or improved function of every organ.
