My baby has had a running nose and cough for a little over a week. I thought about scheduling a doctor’s appointment for him, but he don’t have a fever. He is not allowed to go to daycare because she is concerned that it is something more than a cold. Other than the runny nose, he seems to be fine. He is laughing and playing a lot. Because he is only 9 months, I don’t want to give him too much of anything. I just started giving him the elderberry for babies. I need suggestions for his runny nose and cough. – TAMMY
How is your baby eating? Does he have an appetite? What are you feeding him? I suggest you give him age-appropriate food made from whole, organic foods. Boost his nutrient intake to support his immune system. Smash some fresh fruit. Bake a fresh sweet potato. Chunk up some fresh avocado.
You have started giving him elderberry but know that it may not serve as a treatment for his runny nose and cough. However, going forward it could be beneficial to have a supplement regimen for him and include elderberry in that regimen. With a supplement regimen in place, it can support his immune system to act as a defense from the start instead of after the fact.
You said that he seems fine and is playful so that is a good sign. Since he is not lethargic, vomiting, and doesn’t have a fever, I can see why there may not be cause for concern. However, you can call his pediatrician to see if they have other suggestions based on the length of time he has had a runny nose and cough.
