1 Food Several Ways and Its Benefits: Potatoes

Potatoes are one of my favorite foods. I find them to be tasty, filling, and convenient additions to completing a meal. I think it is not fair that they have such a bad rep. Why is that anyway? Potatoes have so many nutritionally positive attributes.
  • Cholesterol free
  • Fat free
  • Source of B vitamins, potassium and vitamin C
  • Source of antioxidants and dietary fiber
  • Low in sodium
  • Naturally gluten-free

Potatoes are mineral and vitamin rich. They are easily incorporated into meals of varying dietary preferences such as gluten free and Low-FODMAP diets making them quite versatile.

As with many foods, the nutritional content is affected by the process in which a food is prepared. This is no different for potatoes. To reap the benefits of potatoes nutritional value, try baking, boiling, steaming, and simmering/moist cooking when preparing them.

A dish with potatoes in it is not necessarily unhealthy; it mainly depends on how the dish is prepared. Potatoes are a valuable addition to a well-balanced diet. In short, eat unprocessed potatoes with the skin intact.
